Operational from 1858 to 1942, it's part of the Gettysburg Battlefield Historic District and is renowned for being President Abraham Lincoln's point of arrival and departure on November 18, 1863, following his delivery of the Gettysburg Address. During the battle, it served as a hospital and post-war, a hub for wounded soldiers and resources. After several years of delays, the station, originally owned by the Borough of Gettysburg, was placed under the National Park Service's purview in 2015.
